So, we need to create a calorie deficit in order to lose weight, right? If we consume less calories than the number of calories our body needs, we will lose weight. That’s the magic formula we are looking for.
But, you need to take care about the number you choose for your deficit. Obviously if you increase the deficit, you will lose weight faster but you will have to be sure it doesn’t get over a certain number.
For your information, the minimum calorie intake recommended for women is 1200, and 1500 calories for men. So, for the example we saw above, the maximum deficit that this person should do is about 500 calories.
There’s obviously some pros and cons about choosing the calories you should intake.
If you want to lose weight fast, then you should lower your total daily calories, but you will have to consider that you will have to manage those calories during the whole day.
Or, you could wish to go slow and steady, while losing weight constantly without going into a major change in your diet.
What’s recommended is opt for a 5% deficit of your BMR. And one nice information, if you do exercise you need obviously more fuel (food) in your body.
